Shops and Commercial Establishment Act, 1960

This act extends to the whole of the state of Maharashtra. This act applied to all the Shops and Commercial Establishments.

All the Shops and Commercial Establishment should be completely registered under this act and rules. The registration application has to be made within 30 days from the date of commencement of the shops and commercial establishment.

No employer in an establishment is not required to work for more than 8 hours in a day and 48 hours in a week. The period of work in an establishment each day shall be so fixed that no period shall exceed four hours and that no such person shall work for more than 4 hours before he has had an interval of rest of at least one hour. Every employee in an establishment shall be entitled after 12 months continuous service in that establishment, to holiday with wages for a period of 12 days in subsequent period of 12 months.

  • Application and obtaining the Shops & Establishment registration under the Act
  • Renewal of Shops and Establishment License
  • Providing Services and Guidance regarding Rules and Compliance pertaining to Shop & Establishment Act.
  • Preparation and Maintenance of various Registers and Records under the Act.
  • Attend the government officials and solve the queries whenever required.
  • Solving and Replying to Show Cause Notices issued under the respective Act.
  • Guidance and Assistance at the time of inspections as well as enquiries conducted by the Inspector
  • Giving timely updates and informing about notifications if any whenever required.
  • Maintain all the Registers like Employment, Record Hours of Work, Holidays and Leaves, Muster Cum Wage Roll, Wages, Attendance, Advance, Deduction, Overtime, Fine etc.
  • Preparation of Returns: We will be preparing the returns (Annual / Half yearly).

The main objective is to regulate working conditions of the people employed in various establishments, to protect them from exploitation and regulate the condition of work and employment i.e. to secure maximum benefits to the employees working in different categories of establishments like Shops, Commercial Establishments, Residential hotels, Restaurants, Eating houses, Theatres and other places of public amusement or entertainments are mainly protected by provisions of this act.
